Nurse leaders are responsible for the care and well-being of their patients. They often
have to make quick decisions and juggle many tasks at once. The interview with one registered
nurse leader was great, as she had to tell the nursing student everything in the nursing sector,
including how she has managed to be successful throughout her profession. The interview was
fascinating as she explained the differences between the three categories of nursing, and this
created an opportunity to learn several unique things included in nursing. The nurse leader is
experienced and has been in the nursing career for more than ten years. This nursing interview
paper explains the leadership styles utilized for successful nursing, the characteristics the nursing
leader being interviewed believes are effective for leadership, and the techniques used to
empower other nurse colleagues or staff.
Level 1: Nursing Background
Transformational leadership style
The nurse leader interviewed explained that they utilize a leadership style focused on
developing relationships and trust with those they work with. This leadership style allows for
open communication and collaboration to make the best decisions for those involved. This type
of leadership is beneficial in healthcare settings as it creates an environment of care and
compassion, which is essential when working with patients (Apore & Asamoah, 2019). The
nurse leader interviewed utilized a transformational leadership style. This leadership style
inspires and motivates team members to achieve collective goals. The nurse leader provided
clear direction and expectations while supporting and empo
