goals of the Civil Rights Movement, whether it be through
legislation passed by congress, decisions by the supreme court,
or intervention of federal troops to enforce laws against
segregation.
Supporting Point 1: Legislation passed by congress built laws that ended practices against
minorities.
Specific Evidence: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended public segregation while banning
discrimination over employment, which was a major goal of the Civil
