Primary Source Analysis 05 HIS 211-07 NAME: Brad Ramsey DUE: Thursday September 21, 2017 8:00 am Read the Primary Sources in Primary Source Document Packet 5, answer the following questions and UPLOAD the document to the Canvas Assignment page. Document 3-1 1. According to Frethorne, what were the causes of his "daylie and hourelie grones, and teares"? - The daily challenges of being a servant dealing with malnutrition, sickness, and the hard labor. 2. Frethorne begged his father to "redeem" him and "save my life." What did he mean? What could his father do? Did Frethome seem to think his father will be able to help him? Why do you think he entreats his father "not to forget me"? - He meant sending money to help him. His father could either get to redeem him for a little bit of money or he could have his father send him foods that would be worth a profit. How did Frethorne describe his relations with his master and other English colonists? - Being an indentured servant, he was not being paid, not being fed well and he was facing sickness. They were known to face these miseries due to them basically being slaves but only having to work until a debt is paid off. Miseries being faced were to the extent of the sickness. This was a new land for not only him but English colonists as well so that resulted in them getting these foreign viruses that they had never faced before. His relations with his master and other colonists seem to be that of a kind of master and slave type relationship where the master gives him the minimum necessities to live and could rather care less about his servants. 4. Frethorne referred to Indians as "Rogues" and "slaves." How did his letter portray relations between the Indians and colonists? What part did corn and weapons play in their encounters? - It portrayed their re
