Project management can be viewed as a number of interlinked processes
The project management process groups include
◦ initiating processes, defining & authorizing project
◦ planning processes, Ensuring that project addresses org needs
◦ executing processes, coordinating people and other resources
◦ monitoring and controlling processes, regularly measuring progress against the
plans
◦ closing processes, finalizing acceptance
* Initiating: defining & authorizing project or project phase. Plan It takes place during each
phase
Planning: Ensuring that project addresses org needs. Project include several plans such as scope
mgmt., schedule mgmt etc.
Executing: coordinating people and other resources to carry out the plans to create the
product. E.g acquiring & developing teams, performing quality assurance, managing
stakeholders
Monitoring & Controlling: regularly measuring progress against the plans and take corrective
actions to meet objectives. E,g, reporting performance
