The purpose of the report is to develop a handbook for new companies as a reference guide on the legal system and legislation. Initially, the main two types of law, namely the criminal and civil law will be explained. Next, a brief overview of the sources of law will be analysed. Then, the Sri Lankan court structure will be evaluated. Moving on, the implication of law on the business will be discussed. Finally, the key legislation relevant to business will be examined. Also, many examples will be added to give clear evidence.
