Technician Research Project
This research paper will discuss four topics of medical nursing for a veterinary technician. These
four topics are administration routes, fluid administration, dental prophylaxis, and emergency
care. These four topics will better help understand the methods of administering the veterinary
technician services.
Administration routes
Generally, nasoesophageal (NE) tubes are placed to feed (enteral feeding) dogs or cats,
which are anticipated to feed less in a week, or before placement of a more durable tube. These
tubes allow patients to feed occasionally for a number of weeks, for instance in the case of cats
suffering from liver disease (Gajanayake, 2015). Apart from this, other reasons for placing the
tubes include delivery of liquid medications, fluids, as well as diagnostic testing. Moreover,
orogastric tubes are also used and to detect upper gastrointenstinal (GI) haemorrhage (Herring,
2016).
Before embarking on the process of placing the tube, the size of the tubes commonly used
are 10 to 22 french, one needs to have all the necessary materials ready such as endotracheal tube
