Four members of the organization have been nominated as candidates to take part in the “guiding coalition,” after a review of the employee personas report. These candidates have demonstrated the ability to influence others while remaining committed to positively guiding change. Dr. Kotter has defined four characteristics that make members of the guiding coalition successful. These characteristics are credibility, expertise, leadership, and position power (Karpen, 2021). The four individuals that have been nominated to the guiding coalition are Chris; the sales executive, Omar; the manufacturing director, Elaine; the acting director, and John; the research director. Rationale This section will detail the justification for the nomination of each of the four individuals previously named. 1. Chris – Sales Exec. a. Managers global sales team of 150 b. 10 yr tenure w/ organization c. Below average job satisfaction Chris is a realistic team member that has prior acquisitions experience with a previous employer. Chris brings the expertise of these prior acquisitions and will provide the team with a strong knowledgebase to support the sale of the company. 2. Omar – Manufacturing Dir. a. Oversees almost 600 personnel b. 3 yr tenure w/ organization MBA 699 Final Project 3 c. High job satisfaction Omar has prior experience with acquisitions as well. Omar has been recognized as a leader in the organization and allowed the company to expand its supply chain into the Middle East. Currently, Omar supervises 12 manufacturing plants. His prior acquisition and management experiences along with his successes in a short time with the company will lend him credibility among team members. 3. Elaine – Acting Dir. a. Oversees 18 Sr. managers b. 10 yr tenure w/ organization c. High job satisfaction Elaine is known in the company as someone with vision and as someone who thrives when adapting to changes. As the acting director and manager of 18 senior managers, her role providers her with the position power role among guiding coalition members. 4. John – Research Dir. a. Oversees 100+ scientists b. 22 yr tenure w/ organization c. High job satisfaction John manages research labs in three different countries and is a founding member of the organization. John’s tenure and experience with the company has afforded him the opportunity to have experienced mergers prior to this one. John has proven to be very determined in his role and
