Debate Position Summary. University of Texas NTR 306
[Should people believe in nutrition recommendation]
Overview (3 pts)
The topic we’re debating on is mostly about should people believe in the nutrition
recommendations or not, so I will define the debate topic this time as “whether people should believe in
nutrition recommendations”.
The reason why this topic is controversial is because people doubt the credibility of those nutrition
recommendations created by the nutritionist due to different factors that might affect the final result of it. For
example, some people think the recommendations are influenced by food industries or lobbyists, some people
think it’s not trustworthy because of its always changing property, and some people think since there is so
much misinformation nowadays, why should people believe in those recommendations.
Personally, I believe in the nutrition recommendations the nutritionist gives out. Although some of
the popular diet or nutrition recommendations on the internet are not yet proven having a positive impact on
people’s health, most of them are proven with solid evidence and it’s totally based on the data which comes
out directly from the experiments.
