• 1. Argue that international conventions are the best source among all sources of international law. (300 words)  International conventions or treaties are establishing rules that are expressly recognized by the contesting states - here, the parties who has brought the dispute before the court. To apply any treaty convention or protocol or statute before the International Court of Justice, that statute or the treaty or that convention must be expressly recognized by the contesting states. In the international conventions, the ICJ will apply in that particular dispute only those which are accepted and directly ratified by the nations, who are party to the dispute. They are vital to international collaboration, peace, and security. This is why international law is founded on treaties.
