People live and work in a group, and every person has experienced conflict in their own

life. Teamwork can be defined as a group of people working in the same direction and

purpose. Moreover, the nature of teamwork is that there are always conflicts between

team members at different stages of working as a team because all team members have

a different perspective, values, attitudes, needs, personalities, and backgrounds. This

essay will critically reflect on the process of team dynamics for creating conflict scenarios.

In the conflict resolution course, all students had to submit an assignment (conflict

scenario) as group work. The group formation in this class was done randomly, so we

didn’t have any common background. My group consists of two social workers, a store

manager, a nurse, and an engineer (I am an engineer). This course was virtual and

intensive (5 days), so we did not have a face-to-face meeting or did not have time to get

to know personalities. We faced many conflicts in teamwork.

According to the development sequence in small groups (1), most teams follow five-stage

to high performance (Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, and adjourning). In the

first stage forming, we shared a little bit about our background and didn’t have any conflict

or problem, so quickly move into the next stage (Storming).

In this stage, we tried to find a topic for our assignment and planned our work schedule.

The first conflict was raised in this stage because I and the other one didn’t have a

common field with other members. I am a risk seeker person, and I am sure I can find or

create areas related to my field. So, my first approach to this problem was to have

flexibility, and others had a good understanding of my situation. But one of our teammates

(Ms. X) tried to explain only her working experience and multiple time said; I don’t have

any idea about engineering. I tried to convince her that we can find a common topic, but
