right-hand rule is used.
2. The third right-hand rule is used to determine that the force is to the left.
3. The force exerted by the magnetic field
opposes the original motion of the wire.
4. In a generator, the armature turns through a
magnetic field, inducing a current to flow in
the wire. When current flows through a wire
in a magnetic field, a force is exerted on the
wire. Because this force acts in the opposite
direction to the original motion of the wire,
it acts to slow down the rotation of the
armature.
