As you know, Bolt Plastics is a medium-sized manufacturing firm that specializes in designing
and producing plastic molds for a wide variety of industry needs. The firm employs 430 people
over six production lines.
Bolt Plastics recently completed a highly confidential agreement with Nigik Robotics to convert
the small materials production line (also referred to as Line 6) to a fully-automated process that
will reduce labour requirements from fifty people to seven.
Bolt’s CEO has given, Celine Devray the task of executing the downsizing. You are assigned to
assist her with the downsizing. I’ve talked to Celine at great length about this. She believes a
plan can be developed in-house and has asked for comprehensive proposals from two internal
teams - the Legal team and the Operations Management team - in the belief that each will
provide different insights on how to proceed. Your remit will be to review each proposal and
present a recommendation on the most effective plan.
Make clear recommendation on which proposal to go with.
Accomplish Two Things: Establish a timeline for the project and secondly ask
Celina for her take on the situation to give you a better sense of her perspective and
what she is looking for in your recommendation.
