Final Project
This document provides you with the relevant information that you need in order to write
and submit your final project. Please, read this document carefully before choosing and
completing your final project.
The final project is due in Week 4 of the Summer Term. It counts for 60% of the final
mark. This is strictly individual and independent work. I will not discuss topics or project
details with any student. The choice of the deal, the data collection effort and the writing
of the project is entirely the responsibility of the student.
Note that this is not a dissertation. It is, instead, a structured mini-case.
1 - Main characteristics of the project
The project consists of a written document that thoroughly analyzes a corporate deal and
demonstrates that the student has correctly acquired the contents and skills of the FM407
course.
The deal analyzed in the project can be a past deal that has already happened, a current
deal that is in the process of being made or a hypothetical deal that you want to propose.
In all three cases, the project needs to be realistic and based on actual existing data.
Depending on the project, you will have to make more or less assumptions and to include
your own projections. This is totally acceptable and, to some extent, always necessary.
Just make sure that you explicitly state your assumptions and clearly cite your sources.
The project should be submitted in pfd format. It needs to be self-contained, including
references and tables. The submitted project needs to be under 4000 words (excluding
tables, figures and references) and under 12 pages. Note that it is possible to write an
excellent final project that is much shorter than these limits
