(1 point) The text is about a girl named Marie Fitrion who grew up in Barrie, Ontario, assuming she was black. But when she went to college in Toronto, her view of herself shifted, and she was still unsure and needed to know more about her history and tradition. The author barely learned the Creole language or enjoyed Haitan food, and before she met her husband Daniel, who was raised, she felt culturally excluded. 2. Celebrating festivals and traditions takes people closer to their souls, and they get to understand each other more than ever before.
