Week 1 – Virtualization

1. Log in to your newly created AWS account and take a screen capture of the AWS Console

(Dashboard) and embed it below.

2. Provide a detailed overview of the steps required to provision (create) and launch an AWS

Ubuntu-based server virtual instance. The steps may be listed in bullet points or complete

sentences. Use as much space as required.

a. Select the AWS region on the upper right of the AWS console

b. Select EC2 Dashboard, and then the Launch instance, as below.

c. Select Ubuntu Instance under Application and OS Image

d. Select key pair name and create one, save on a folder for later use.

e. Under network settings leave it at default. The IP is left to Anywhere during

testing purposes.

f. Turn on Allow HTTPS traffic and HTTP traffic from the internet options.

g. After reviewing all options select Launch Instance and wait for a successful

initiated launch of instance.
