The RC and RL circuits can be used to select the certain frequencies to output, which is also called filter. At the beginning of this experiment, we used the multisim circuits simulation software to build the circuits in the computer and observed the output frequencies to study the features of different type filters. As a result, the actual response doesn't have an abrupt transition from pass band to stop band. Additionally, the frequency at which the output is 0.707 times the input, that frequency is known as the cut-off frequency or (-3dB) frequency. Components: Instruments Components ● Oscilloscope ● Agilent Function Generator ● Digital Multimeter ● XY 150 Kit ● Resistors ○ 10 KΩ (1/ 4 watt) : 1 ○ 1 KΩ (1/ 4 watt) : 1 ● Capacitor ○ 10 nF : 1 ○ 100nF ● Connecting wires ● 741 OpAmp Procedure: This experiment consisted of two parts, frequency and step response. In the first step of frequency response, we applied the 1V peak-to-peak signal as the input voltage, and then we connected the Oscilloscope to the Source while compared with different output voltage by changing the input frequency from 100Hz to 150kHz. After that, we calculated the filter gain in dB by the provided formula (20.log(Vout/Vin) = 20.log(Vout)) at each frequency. Additionally, we tuned the input frequency until the output voltage is 3dB in the pass band and recorded the corresponding frequency. Secondly, we measured the phase between the input and the output signals at 25Hz and 150kHz. In the step response, we set the signal amplitude to 1Vpp and 2 observed the output signal waveform, located the charging and discharging parts of the output signal for 200 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 KHz, and 5 KHz. 5.1.3 Peak to Peak Voltage: Ch1:1.2v ChB:10.2v Gain 18.59 This graph shows the relationship between the Peak to Peak Voltage and the frequency. The voltage gain is proportional with R2/R1. (R2/R1=10K/1K=10).Thus, the output voltage is 10 times larger than input voltage. 5.1.4 Vp-p: Ch1:1.4v Chb:11.8v Gain: 18.52 The Vout should equal 1+R2/R1 as it is a Non-inverting Operational Amplifier. 3 5.2.4 In this case, it is an inverting Operational Amplifier connection, and there is one capacitor parallel connect with R2 as a low pass filter.
