INTRODUCTION:
The trait for antennae colour is autosomal and undergoes independent assortment. The trait for
the number of body segments is autosomal and undergoes independent assortment. The traits for
leg colour and number of eyes are autosomal and both undergo individual assortment. The traits
for leg texture and tail type are both autosomal and undergo individual assortment. All traits
undergo independent assortment because Gregor Mendel proved that genetic diversity is caused
by independent assortment and segregation. The genetic diversity would be shown by all the
different phenotypes of the F2 offspring. The traits are all autosomal because autosomal traits are
the most common. This lab is taking place so that we can go in depth about all the ways that
traits can be inherited. This lab would come in hand as an elementary teacher by teaching the
students about different traits and how they had inherited them from their parents and
grandparents.
