Figure 1: IKEA Place Apps
IKEA Place application is a VR application which allow the user to virtually place trueto-scale 3D models in the user own space. On November 2021, IKEA have executed a survey in
finding out the ease of use of the app among their users. From the survey taken by the IKEA, the
company able to compile a few issues on regards of the UI design of IKEA Place application.
Some of the issues identified are as follow:
· There is no search option in speed up the process in finding the furniture that the user is
looking for.
· The placement indicator can be seen in the beginning but once decided on which are to
put the furniture, nothing happens.
· Slow in updating new furniture that can be seen in the physical store
· Some products are not available to use the AR features.
· No instruction found on how to use the AR and manipulate the object with the AR camera
· The interaction style is not matching with the real-world concept where the user felt that
it doesn’t make sense to use one finger to drag and re-size the object.
Based on the findings, they believe it’s time to do an improvement towards the UI design
by redesigning the application in improving the user experience towards the application and
ensuring the issues raise being solved.
