hazard (may be existing
controls)
Proceed to scope the department to see which
products need to be stocked. For example,
check to see if there are any missing products
on the shelves.
Physical: As I am scoping the department, there is a possibility
that an item may fall on me as some products are hanging
halfway off the edge of the shelf. Also, I may trip and fall due
to a spill on the floor.
Ergonomic: As I am checking to see which items need to be
stocked, I have to bend down to look at the bottom shelf and
have to tilt my head up to look at the items on the top shelf.
This may lead to back pain and a possible neck strain.````
1 3 B 4 14 Engineering: Make sure that the
there is no product hanging off the
shelf, and identify any potential
hazard on the sales floor.
Procedure: Use a wet floor sign to
prevent any accidents. Eliminate
the hazard by cleaning up the spill
and moving the item away from the
edge of the shelf.
Administrative: Training
employees on proper work
techniques to reduce the likelihood
of injury.
Teaching employees proper
workplace safety procedures such
as how to report a spill, where to
find wet floor signs etc.
Go inside the cooler to find the products
which are needed and begin to remove
products from other departments on top of the
skid. For example, you will find products from
other departments such as deli and produce on
the skid as well.
Physical: As I am removing the products from the top of the
skid, there is a possibility that a product or more may fall on
me.
Biological: As I am in a cooler for a prolonged period of time,
it is possible that the temperature inside the cooler could have
an adverse effect on my health.
2 3 B 4 14 Engineering: Get a ladder to ensure
that you don’t have to reach for the
product which can possibly lead to
it falling on top of someone. Keep
the cooler open for a few minutes if
the temperature is too cold.
Procedure: Try to use a ladder
whenever you have to grab an item
that is outside of your reach.

JOB TASK ANALYSIS FORM
Always wear some type of warm
clothing inside the cooler.
Administrative: Train employees
on how to safely remove any
products on top of skid. Show
employees where they can find a
jacket to use for the cooler or
freezer.
After the products from the other departments
have been removed, begin to pull out the skid
using the pump truck.
Physical: It is possible that while pulling the skid from the
cooler, that I can accidentally start pulling while my foot is in
inside the skid. This can essentially lead to my foot getting
stuck which can cause major injury.
Ergonomic: It may be possible that I strain my back while
pulling the skid from the cooler which can be caused by having
too much products on one skid.
2 5 D 2 12 Engineering: Make sure that your
feet are nowhere near the skid
before you start pulling. You can
reduce the likelihood of a back
strain by decreasing the weight of
the skid.
Procedure: Use safety shoes
whenever you are attempting to
pull out a skid. If a skid is too
heavy, then get someone else to
help you pull it.
Administrative: Teach employees
the importance of wearing safety
shoes. Teach employees when they
should pull out a skid by
themselves and when they should
not.
