La Malinche worked together with Cortes, and has sexual relations with him – perceived as a “whore” and traitor to her race, allowing Spanish colonizers to penetrate her (symbol of penetration of Europeans into Mexico). Even though both did the same thing (facilitated colonization) – because their stories were told by different writers, they are perceived differently.
