Parable
A parable is a succinct, didactic story, which illustrates one or more instructive lessons or
principles. A parable is a type of analogy. It is a brief narrative that delivers a moral, and
the main characters are human. Additionally, parables present their morals implicitly, and
their meanings can be open to several interpretations. In contract a fable, parable’s plots
are plausibly realistic.
We always associate parables with stories about Jesus from the bible. However, parables
have been use since a long time before the time of Jesus. The Bible contains numerous
parables in the gospels section of the New Testament. Parables like those in the bible
demonstrate the tendency of these stories to be largely religious in nature. The world
“parable” is derived from the Greek paraballein. The meaning of most parables is not so
obvious, or at least it should not be. Most parables contain some elements that are strange
or unusual. They should cause you to think carefully and critical trying to find out the
right meanings. Parables do not say things precisely, but they use comparisons to describe
some aspect to let the readers find the message. In the same way, parables also appear in
the Islam, and are used to imparting lessons and values.
