Free Will Vs. Determinism
According to The Creation, in order to remain one with God, one must obey his
commands. When free-will comes into the picture, you are therefore distancing yourself from
God and breaking the oneness you would otherwise have. When Kintu refused to obey the
command of Mugulu, by returning to heaven, he was breaking his oneness with God and as a
consequence death was introduced upon earth.
In The Creation, there is a clear separation of the Golden age from the Age of Creation.
The Golden age starts by there being a single man on Earth called Kintu. Kintu has a cow that he
uses for a food source. One day, Kintu comes into contact with Nambi and her sister, who were
sent down by the sky deity known as Mugulu. Mugulu, having a fascination with Kintu’s cow,
steals it from him. Nambi feels bad with the whole situation and decides to bring Kintu into
heaven and confront Mugulu. During this period in time, Kintu is presented with impossible
tasks set forth by Mugulu. Mugulu is imposing these impossible tasks to test Kintu’s worthiness.
The tasks are; eating a plethora amount of food, using a copper axe to cut a rock, filling a bucket
