Your task is to research these events and create a visual timeline that contains
10 of these important events, with at least one event from each movement’s time
period.
On your timeline, provide the date, a description of the event, and an
explanation of the event's impact on citizens, the country, or life in general.
Include at least three images on your timeline.
Once your timeline is created, reflect on the events you selected. In a welldeveloped paragraph, discuss the events and explain how you see these events
shaping or reflecting American life, values, or way of thinking. In another
well-developed paragraph, discuss the connection between historical context and
texts. How do these events shape what writers are writing about at that time?
How do these events shape how and why texts are written in their respective
times? (For example, in a time of many wars, we might expect anti-war texts, or
we might expect a surge in patriotic texts.) Use examples to support your
reflection.
