Leadership And Organizational Change
Leadership is the practice of persuading others to comprehend and reach a decision about
what should be done, methods of doing it, and the means of enabling collective and individual
efforts to achieve shared objectives (Yukl, 2013, p. 23). Organizational change entails a set of
actions that are put in place in an attempt to change the existing procedures or organizational
behavior in an institution. However, the art of executing and managing change is what
determines its success or failure and how profitable the change can be towards an organization.
Effective transformational leadership requires the use of an equally effective change
management model in an organization to facilitate the desired organizational transformation that
leads to enhanced organizational performance (Brisson-Banks, 2009).
The concept of leadership and organizational change
From the functional perspective, management involves the primary functions of a
manager, such as controlling, organizing, leading, and planning resources to accomplish the
objectives of the company. Equally, the institutional perspective considers management as a
group of individuals responsible for making decisions in a firm; for instance top management,
