What? (Time Management Foundations)
1. What is “Time Consciousness”? What could each of the following do to help in improving “Time
Consciousness”?: Understanding the difference between “Urgency” and “Importance”, Keeping a Time Log,
Understanding who/what controls time available, Understanding the three tests of time (necessity;
appropriateness; efficiency), Identifying and working with the “Energy Cycle”) (200 words max)
So What? (Time Management as it Relates to Me)
1. So what is my “Time Consciousness” in each of the areas above? (200 words max)
2. So what are my “Self-Generated Time Wasters/Robbers” and my “Environmental Time Wasters/

Answer:
I believe that I manage to sort through my tasks and set aside the ones that are important for my success, and ones
that are trivial, but an area I need to improve in is keeping a time log, which would help me boost my efficiency in
doing such tasks. When it comes to understanding deadlines, I believe I do that very well, but I tend to leave things
to the end, which can be fatal at times, hence I would need to work on realizing the deadlines, and having work
done ahead of time rather than doing it last instance. In the three tests of time, I believe I pass the test of necessity,
as it ties with my understanding of the urgent and important tasks, but when it come to appropriateness, I do lack
that skill, as I often get sidetracked during tasks, which end up being my time wasters. As goes working with the
energy cycle, I have identified my most productive times, and allot those for work or for other important tasks,
which in this case happens to be after 10:00pm.
Answer:
An individual’s time consciousness would mean awareness of how he/she use and allocate their time.
When an individual knows which tasks are important and which are urgent, he/she can overcome the tendency
to focus on trivial, yet urgent activities, so that enough time is cleared to do what is critical for their success.
Keeping a time log would boost one’s productivity by excluding low-value tasks and, more-so, scheduling
challenging tasks for the time of the day when the individual feels their best.
There are times when an individual is faced with deadlines, and the task has to be completed within that time,
understanding these deadlines and their importance is key in improving time consciousness.
The test of necessity is stopping yourself before doing a task and asking “is this really necessary or not?” The
test of appropriateness is the consideration of time, and if that is the most appropriate use of one’s time. And
lastly, the test of efficiency, how can one improve the process to be more efficient.
Identifying the energy cycle would benefit greatly, as one would know when he/she is most productive,
allotting that time for the more important tasks, relating back the time log
