The name of Makati City was originated to the patron saint and past of the settlements of Pasig river, the river which is the tide is getting low tide and the residents told “Makati na, Kumati na.” to the founder of Manila and the first Governor General, Don Manuel Lopez de Legazpi. Since then, Legazpi renamed the settlements to San Pedro de Makati after its patron saint.
