Of Blood and Fire: The Untold Story of Bangladesh's Fight for Independence is the title of a novel that is
based on the events that took place during Bangladesh's fight for independence. When the Pakistani
military proclaimed a state of emergency in 1971 to crush the region's ambitions for independence, the
people of Eastern Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh, rose up in protest. The military dictatorship has
been removed from power. Unarmed civilians were brutally murdered, set on fire, and pillaged during
the conflict. A student-led movement of resistance emerged in response to the oppression that was
taking place. As a direct consequence of this event, an all-out war for independence broke out. The
author, her son, and her husband all played active roles in the struggle for freedom, and this book
describes their experiences. She had firsthand knowledge of a few of the occurrences herself. The
remainder of the material was obtained from trustworthy sources. It was originally written as a diarystyle account in Bengali, and the book has now been translated into English. Is it still possible to contact
