• Poverty Assignment 2 Explain a criminal justice issue in law enforcement, the judiciary, or corrections, relevant to one of the following areas: poverty, unemployment, education, or illegal drug use. I picked to talk about poverty for this assignment and specifically with veterans. I served 12 years in the military and currently reside outside of Chicago. There are countless homeless people that are in the streets and many of them are wearing military type clothing. According to National Veterans Foundation, “Although veterans have a lower poverty rate than other Americans, 6.9 percent vs 14.4 percent in 2012, the simple fact that almost 1.5 million veterans live in poverty in the United States is reprehensible” (Ch.1, para.3). A veteran that has served this country honourably, I cannot fathom they could be living in poverty. Criminal justice issue I have a problem with is that when people/veterans are homeless they do not have many options. If they need to use the restroom it is illegal to go out and it is potentially illegal to use a public
