Crafting Periodic and Loose Sentences
Directions: There are three parts to this assignment. Read each section carefully and follow the
instructions for each part.
Part 1 – Use the following words to write 5 original sentences that follow a periodic sentence
structure:
1. Arduous
Even though it was arduous trudging through the desert heat, they continued to attempt to
find a water source.
2. Assiduously
After the president worked assiduously week after week to get a bill passes, the senate
passed the bill.
3. Disapprobation
After letting the man free from 30 years of prison after murdering his wife, the judge faced
much disapprobation from the townspeople.
4. Impede
As much as Mia begged her parent to let her stay at home, her parents felt forced to send
her to boarding school because of her unusually bad decisions.
