Executive Summary
The following report was made with the intention of determining the safety of two different attractions at the
Swing and Winch Park™. An analysis of the bolts used in the construction of the Super Swiing™ was completed.
In this, the effective load on the bolts during a swing cycle was determined. Based on this information, the
spring rate of the bolts and members used could be determined and a failure analysis could be conducted on
the fastening bolts. Finally, the factor of safety throughout the swing cycle was determined and
recommendations to improve this value were made. Another analysis was made on the motor used in the
Winching Wonder™. Here, the discrepancy between the motor requirements and the motor used was
determined, with recommendations made to decrease this discrepancy. Finally, the winching speed was
determined based on the percent of the rated load used.

The Swing and Winch Park™ is a company dedicated to amazing swings and winching up treasure. However,
two of their main attractions have caused some safety concerns. The analysis of this is of the utmost
importance and the structural integrity and operational requirements of both attractions must be prioritized to
ensure the safety of the customers and workers involved in their operation. Through this report, an analysis of
the structural integrity, focused on the fastening bolts, of the Super Swiing™ was made, with recommendations
