Christmas preparations are underway in the North Pole! The elves are hard at work - keeping an eye on kids, making and fixing toys, and decorating with lights, ribbons, and ornaments spread cheer. This year, however, the vibe is a little…different. Ever since Santa announced that he would be presenting the solid copper 2023 Claus Prize to ONE special elf, the spirit of kindness ha been overtaken by that of competition. Things started off pretty mildly: smearing reindeer poop in another’s backpack or putting the candy-coloring dye in another's shampoo. Last week, a couple fist-fights broke out. But nob could have ever expected this to escalate to a MURDER. On Tuesday, December 12th at 11:59 P.M., Elf Soham’s body was discovered in the dining hall of Santa’s Workshop. Santa has declared that Christmas will be postponed until the scan is discovered and banished from the North Pole. He has hired YOU to figure out who committed this murder by analyzing the following suspect profiles (all among the top choices for the 2023 Claus Prize) and crime scene evidence. The widely used location of the murder allowed for an extensive variety of physical evidence to be collected before clean-up time. Suspect #1 - Elf Jenna Elf Jenna was making a snow globe on Tuesday afternoon. She had accidentally dropped her first attempt and cut herself on a shard of glass while cleaning up. Elf Jenna was sent to w in the gift-wrapping department after this mess-up proved that she should not be trusted around fragile materials - even the shatter-proof alternatives. She fainted upon hearing the new Elf Soham’s passing and refused to eat or drink anything except chips and lemonade (which were Elf Soham’s favorite foods and the last foods he had eaten) when she regained consciousness and insisted on sitting beside his body. Suspect #2 - Elf Arushi Elf Arushi was given a special opportunity on Tuesday to take a break from all the tedious work and help Mrs. Claus in the kitchen (after exhibiting excellent behavior and overall performance). She taste-tested twelve different cookie and cake recipes that Mrs. Claus had made using a brand-new iron skillet (rather than the traditional oven) to see if they were stil appetizing. She ate a delicious bowl of Homemade Broccoli Cheddar Mac and Cheese on a fancy linen tablecloth - way better than the cold Elfabet Soup served in plastic bowls from th Dining Hall. Elf Arushi was also the one who discovered the body after finding his special compressed-foil cube good-luck charm (that he never went anywhere without) about fifty feet away. Suspect #3 - Elf Annika Elf Annika is a close friend of Elf Jenna and Elf Soham and they could be found teasing each other often. On Tuesday morning, Elf Annika had gone to observe a kid who lived in Honol Hawaii (because he was waitlisted from the nice list) but had gotten nasty sunburns wherever her swimsuit did not cover. Elf Annika decided to defer the kid to the naughty list after seei him push his pets down the stairs and further punished him by taking the two animals away. She locked herself in her room after hearing the news of Elf Soham’s passing and could be heard sobbing occasionally. Suspect #4 - Elf Anna Elf Anna was putting together a Chemistree science-kit that consisted of a volcano experiment, a grow-your-own plant experiment, and a make-your-own soap experiment. She had not really known Elf Soham well but always respected his expertise in the more mechanical toys. Suspect #5 - Elf Hannah Elf Hannah was the one who put candy-coloring dye in another’s shampoo. Instead of reporting to the task she was assigned on Tuesday - which was fixing the stone, cement, and concrete parts of the building that had been damaged in a blizzard - she admitted to putting on a thick wool coat to make it look like she was going outside but sneaking towards the roo where the 2023 Claus Prize was stored before realizing that it was quite heavily guarded.
